The Alto was way ahead of its time

This is a picture of an Alto from Xerox PARC.

This is near Stanford University on University Street in Palo Alto.

This is Villa Ingenio. It's the cemetery of northern El Alto.

I was a better alto but was selected as a mezzo soprano.

The Alto was a mouse driven system with a graphical user interface

They put me in the car, then they drove me around Palo Alto.

It was the Star and the Alto that served as the foundation for the Macintosh

The Star and the Alto on the other hand are the products of years of elite research and development

Another team realized that on Saturday night there are all of these restaurants in Palo Alto that have really, really long lines.

But what I actually mostly do is I manage the pain management service at the Packard Children's Hospital up at Stanford in Palo Alto.

If you're ever in the area, it's a really cool place to visit, and you can also drop by our offices in Palo Alto, only a short distance from there.

The Alto was never a commercial product but Xerox did release a system based on it in 1981 the Star 8010 two years before The Lisa three years before the Mac

Now, the Alto Vallejo can save us from this, and I respectfully suggest that 8.5 million is a fair price to pay to keep the desert from our streets and not on top of them.

Here is a 3D model constructed by laser range finders of our neighborhood in Palo Alto, and it's easy to see how 3D points can making amazing 3D models, using techniques like stereo vision or like the laser range finders I just briefly talked about.

The Alto and the Star are evolutionary branches that lead back to the NLS System which introduced windows and the mouse to Sketchpad the first interactive drawing application and even back to the Memex a concept resembling the modern PC decades before it was possible

And I had this idea if I could get 50 people to all do this same thing, sing their parts soprano, alto, tenor and bass wherever they were in the world, post their videos to YouTube, we could cut it all together and create a virtual choir.

Now, it is the position, generally speaking, of our intellectual community that while we may not like this, we might think of this as wrong in Boston or Palo Alto, who are we to say that the proud denizens of an ancient culture are wrong to force their wives and daughters to live in cloth bags?
