Amortization is intangible.

This is the principal amortization.

But that's all amortization is.

So it would be patent amortization.

You'll often hear the words depreciation and amortization used together.

Amortization is the exact same thing, but it deals with intangible assets.

So essentially, a 30 year fixed rate loan has a 30 year principal amortization.

But then we use that airliner ten thousand times during it's amortization life, at least.

If you've watched the video on depreciation and amortization, this might even include the depreciation on some of the physical assets they've bought, or maybe the amortization on the rights to the name Super Pizzeria.

Amortization is the exact same thing as depreciation, but it applies to things that aren't equipment.

They have no money down, 1 million loan, subprime, negative amortization, they had no credit rating, etc, etc.

So patent amortization would be 1,000 in this year, 1,000 in this year, 1,000 in this year, and 1,000 in this year.

So principal amortization just means, well, if I just keep paying this mortgage, after how long is the entire principal amount not just interest, how long is the entire principal amount going to be paid off in?

And we'll talk later about depreciation and amortization and how we might change what these values are, but a very simple way is, if you went out and bought 10 million worth of stuff, you'd write on your books, I have a 10 million asset.
