And then we embed elastic.

Other people are not as elastic.

A rubber ball bounces because it is elastic.

This swimming suit is made of elastic material.

Notice this. This is really interesting. Notice this elastic energy here.

Or essentially that they're all elastic bumps between the different molecules.

We store potential energy to the elastic skin to make it move.

You can see that this actually adds up. You can see that the elastic energy before is about the same as the elastic energy plus the movement energy afterwards.

I'm just a big fan of, you know elastic. I think it's awesome.

Because some of that pressure energy got taken away and stored as elastic energy.

So that becomes a very powerful force for them to make their brand more elastic.

So lets draw that in here. There is a little bit of elastic energy left.

One is that the elastic energy helps lower the pressure. We saw that here are here.

You can use this stored elastic energy to move blood. You can use this for movement energy.

That elastic energy would be something like that. It would actually take up a chunk of that pressure energy.

The fall was absorbed somewhat by the carpet and, in addition, his back was more elastic than Gregor had thought.

You can already see how elastic energy is really helpful because it helped you lower the pressure. Now what happens in diastole.

This is the elastic energy which just took a chunk of that pressure energy away. What is left is the leftover pressure energy.

So the idea is, all night long the elastic skin of the third lung will slowly inflate itself, including air and molecules, for sure.

And we set this up as a live globe in the Museum of Modern Art in New York for the Design the Elastic Mind exhibition.

You can actually now in diastole move some blood forward because the elastic energy is recoiling like a rubber band, and that energy has to go somewhere.

Since energy density implied by cosmological constant is constant in time, it corresponds roughly to the force that is proportional to the distance, like the elastic force.

And this exhibition is about the work of designers that help us be more elastic, and also of designers that really work on this elasticity as an opportunity.

So we know that just like in a balloon or rubber band if you stretch it out you are going to get some extra energy we call elastic energy.

In essence, our true challenge is that by altering the amino acid sequence of the proteins we can make spider silk stronger and more elastic, and control its biocompatibility.

Already you can see that the lesson from the first part of this picture was that we have a little bit of elastic energy here and you can see that.

Some of the minds in this audience are super elastic, others are a little slower, others have a few stretch marks, but nonetheless this is a quite exceptional audience from that viewpoint.

The other cool feature about elastic energy is that not only does it lower your pressure which we have talked about, but it also can be used to convert it into movement energy.

So if I was actually going to measure how much energy, obviously I don't measure movement energy or elastic energy, the only thing I really measure in the doctor's office is the pressure energy.

I had to do what seemed like innumerable repetitions of exercises with these thick, elastic bands different colors, you know to help build up my leg muscles, and I hated these bands more than anything

Hadoop is a MapReduce system, and it has the advantage of handling all the details of distributing these mappers and reducers across a cluster of nodes, and we're actually using Amazon's elastic MapReduce, which has hosted Hadoop to make our lives simpler.

Like the others, I wear a flickering, cheap flashlight tied to my head with this elastic, tattered band, and I can barely make out the slick tree limbs holding up the walls of the three foot square hole dropping hundreds of feet into the earth.
