These are all the chordae tendinae and these are the papillary muscles.

The chordae tendinae and the papillary muscles do a really important job in preventing that from happening.

And, yeah, we are seeing deformed fish, we are seeing deformed animals, and we are seeing thyroid cancers already.

So when Three Mile Island releases some radiation, you'd want to incorporate statistic likelihood of someone getting thyroid cancer in any number.

The reason that it won't, is that these papillary muscles are basically sending out little life lines, these chordae tendinae, to keep the valve from flipping backwards.

About 50 percent of men in their 50s and 60s have microscopic prostate cancers, and virtually 100 percent of us, by the time we reach our 70s, will have microscopic cancers growing in our thyroid.

And so, please consider this a work in progress, but I'd like to tell you today a story about a very rare cancer called midline carcinoma, about the undruggable protein target that causes this cancer, called BRD4, and about a molecule developed at my lab at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, called JQ1, which we affectionately named for Jun Qi, the chemist that made this molecule.
