So, this is a strong positive correlation between working memory capacity and, and

Is there any correlation, positive or negative, between intelligence and tendency to be religious?

Here we expect a positive correlation.

And what you see is a nice positive correlation between runs and batting average.4.

And it's standardized so that the correlation coefficient falls between positive one and negative one.

Slight high correlation, or puh, puh, sorry, positive correlation for high SES.

So the correlation is a positive.22.

Correlations can range from positive one, which is a perfect positive correlation.

And what we see is a nice moderate to strong positive correlation between working memory capacity and SAT.

And, then, the alternative hypothesis is that, there's a positive correlation, say, between, say, working memory capacity, and

I don't see that strong positive correlation at Princeton.

What do you need for a strong, positive correlation?

So what you see here is a modest positive correlation.

So you might observe a positive correlation between x and y, introduce a moderator and boom it could go away.

After all, there's a strong correlation between water and fishing, and for some, there's a strong correlation between fishing and beer.

And there's a correlation between unemployment and home ownership.

So you would think that the more years out, the higher their salary, so there's probably a positive correlation between those two.

That's different from the last lecture where we saw a positive correlation.

The answer happens to be 0.7, and the reason is we can see that there is a positive correlation between x and y.

So that's just the correlation between age and endurance, .13.

We, will assume there's no correlation between x and y.

What we want instead is a correlation between 2 binary values.

And what's the correlation between runs scored and on base percentage?

So say we observe a correlation of like.7, which was the correlation between on base percentage and runs scored.

Is the relationship between these positive or negative?

I was positive this beautiful thing between us

We found absolutely no correlation, no impact whatsoever, between these two variables.

So, we're doing a lot better with this model, because the correlation between active years and, endurance, is much stronger than was the correlation between age and endurance.

So, how do we untangle that positive correlation in trying to predict the outcome measure?

So I've said that the alternative is that the correlation is greater than zero, or positive.

As you see, there's a high correlation between temperature, CO2 and sea level.

So, you might think, you know, there's a strong correlation between X and Y.

We could use matrix algebra to calculate. The correlation coefficient between these three measures.

Okay, so. A correlation, this simply defining correlation.

We saw a nice correlation, positive correlation of .40 what I've done now with this plot is I've put the actual player names next to each individual dot.

Here are three data sets in one, we have a strongly positive correlation in another, it's above zero, and in the third one, it will be a negative correlation.

So, I don't really observe a very strong correlation between these, variables, here at Princeton.

And the regression coefficient for active years is the correlation between active years and endurance.

That's because there's not a very strong correlation between age, and, endurance in this sample.

But there is zero correlation between IQ and emotional empathy, feeling with the other person.

I think there is certainly a correlation between adjacent particles in the selection of particles.

Whatever the reason for the observed positive cross country correlation between income and democracy, it should not be confused with causality. Being democratic does not seem important in securing economic success.

So in the context of correlation and regression, you would say, well I'm just going to assume that the correlation between X and Y is zero.
