Cells form tissues, tissues form organs, organs form us.

Picture immune cells running around the body, through the blood, through the tissues, rubbing up against other cells and other tissues and reading the signals of those other tissues by contact.

Now what that tells us is that wall tissues are doing so much more than just covering the vascular tissues.

The next discussion concerns the transplantation of prenatal tissues.

What changed was the balance of the tissues available.

I always have a good supply of tissues in my pockets.

The nitrogen sort of floats around in our blood and tissues.

So my story in working with animal tissues starts in 1984.

And, sure enough, they dissolve into your blood and tissues as well.

When the baby popped up, it was filled with blue green tissues.

So, that's a challenge, not just for organs but also for tissues.

If you freeze tissues, the water expands, damages or bursts the cell walls.

And between this muscle, they found nervous tissues, a lot of nervous tissues, which penetrate actually the muscle penetrate the submucosa, where you have all the elements for the immune system.

Any time there are different tissues working together, we then call it an organ.

And if you look at the tissues of the animal, they're starting to deteriorate.

And it's basically trying to get to all the tissues, all the cells here.

Now, how did these cells, all with the same genetic material, make all those tissues?

All these different organs and tissues are gonna be getting blood from the left ventricle.

This is the worst! I've gone and washed my pants with tissues still in the pocket.

But what I'm going to tell you about today is how these tissues make awesome models.

There are four types of tissues found in the human body connective, muscle, nervous, and epithelial.

But, some tissues always kind of trick people out err it's kind of a sparkle question.

Those three trends are the ability to engineer cells, the ability to engineer tissues, and robots.

Over time, those gas molecules dissolve into your blood and tissues and start to fill you up.

And one day we hope that these tissues can serve as replacement parts for the human body.

And two of the most expensive tissues in our human body are nervous tissue and digestive tissue.

But what we're really trying to do in my lab is to engineer tissues out of them.

It goes to the various tissues and organs and then it comes back on the other side.

Insulin is a hormone that promotes the uptake of nutrients into your tissues after you eat a meal.

But at the time when I started this project, the best explanation I could find for penal erection was that the wall surrounded these spongy tissues, and the spongy tissues filled with blood and pressure rose and voila! it became erect.

A group of different tissues are called an organ, and a group of different organs are an organ system.

Jeeves filtered in with the tea. Old Chiswick took a stab at it to restore his tissues, and nodded.

In other words, if thylacine tissues were being produced by the thylacine DNA, it would be able to be recognized.

At the San Diego zoo, his frozen zoo has collected the tissues from over 1,000 species over the last 35 years.

It is a fact that when our organs or tissues are injured, our bone marrow releases stem cells into our circulation.

And I already knew that animals like this earthworm, indeed most animals, don't support their tissues by draping them over bones.

And that explained to me expansion made sense more fluid, you get tissues that expand but it didn't actually explain erection.

How could you possibly be taking account of this most fundamental difference between male and female cells, tissues, organs and bodies?

We need a toolkit that takes full recognition of the fundamental differences between XX and XY cells, tissues, organs and bodies.

We now want this ball of cells to start to gastrulate, to turn in so that it will produce the other tissues.

I'm just gonna kind of try to target a couple of the tissues that I think people sometimes might have questions about.

And this is a schematic of a bioreactor we're developing in our lab to help engineer tissues in a more modular, scalable way.

And the third challenge is vascularity, the actual supply of blood to allow those organs or tissues to survive once we regenerate them.

So if we're going to transplant animal tissues to people, we have to figure out a way to get rid of that epitope.
