This is the reality of diabetes.

I have diabetes.

There are words that we're truly afraid of.

Once you're insulin resistant, you're on your way to getting diabetes, which is what happens when your pancreas can't keep up with the resistance and make enough insulin.

Our comedy act was called The 2 Fat Guys .

And insulin resistance, as its name suggests, is when your cells get increasingly resistant to the effect of insulin trying to do its job.

This is what happened to the children of the Dutch Hunger Winter.

Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, diabetes, even some forms of cancer.

(Laughter)

This is actually the cause of type I diabetes, juvenile diabetes or auto immune diabetes, it has several names.

So I'm going to put the slide up now. It won't be up for long.

What I thought about was, what caused the diabetes?

But that doesn't mean my bias is wrong, and most important, all of this can be tested scientifically.

I found one that read,

Fifty percent of the population over the age of 40 suffers from diabetes.

And although it's good to laugh before we look at this.

Now, diabetes is one of the big ones.

Because we all know that we should defy cancer and asterosclerosis and

That's what you're looking at here in the top image.

Think of it in terms of diabetes, for instance.

No kidding.

World Diabetes Day is on the 14th November.

So, in wrapping up, what I want to tell you about is,

So if you put these physiological processes to work,

like who knows where that is going to lead.

I've put a bunch of examples up here.

I got a daughter with diabetes, And three grandbabies I gotta take care of.

The treatment for this is amputation.

Only instead of, you know, good and bad cancer tumors or benign or malignant tumors we instead have diabetes or not and so we will use that as a supervised, we will solve that as a Supervised Learning problem just like we did for the breast tumor data.

And this is a great example of how we haven't learned that lesson at all.

This is one of those signals that the immune system sees in patients who have a disease called type 1 diabetes.

My wife's got diabetes,mr.Frobisher.I've got a mortgage,medical bills.

Interestingly, one of those birth defects has seen a 200 percent increase in the U.S.

Some of you may have heard of this.

We discussed, in the prior film, some of the old things that we did,

So, this will reshape how we think of medicine.

And that comes back to the diabetes story I was telling you.

What are we going to do about them? How can we save their lives?

These things have already been done in animals.

But, imagine a world without cancer.

But step one is accepting the possibility that our current beliefs about obesity, diabetes and insulin resistance could be wrong and therefore must be tested.

My friend Red Maxwell has spent the last 10 years fighting against juvenile diabetes.

Some of these infections are actually carrying antibiotic resistance genes now, and that makes them even more difficult.

In fact scientist are theorizing that this age proteins may play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis, as well as certain complications of diabetes and chronic kidney failure.

These are years that we could get.
