We could observe a correlation.

Here we expect a positive correlation.

Just to give you a sense of the correlation, the correlation is about .5.

So a mean, a correlation, a regression coefficient.

The correlation coefficient is a sample statistic.

Now we see a correlation of.72.

So this was a very serious correlation mistake.

Specifically the correlation analysis.

Slight high correlation, or puh, puh, sorry, positive correlation for high SES.

After all, there's a strong correlation between water and fishing, and for some, there's a strong correlation between fishing and beer.

Remember from the lecture on correlation, then, that represents the covariance or correlation.

To negative one, which is a perfect negative correlation.

What do you need for a strong, positive correlation?

In the 'Meaningful Condition' there was a nice correlation.

And there's a correlation between unemployment and home ownership.

So the correlation is low.

It's an extraordinarily close correlation.

So say we observe a correlation of like.7, which was the correlation between on base percentage and runs scored.

Our plan now is we compute the Phi correlation for each line, and then we rank the lines from high correlation to low correlation.

So clear. Maybe a little bit over clear.

But we'll look at the correlation analysis and you'll see that that's the correlation coefficient.

And, I'll show you the correlation matrix in a moment.

So what you see here is a modest positive correlation.

And if I observe a correlation of something like.8.

Clear, clear.

And we, we got a better model with a correlation of.72.

Correlation in itself doesn't prove causality.

We're almost at the correlation matrix.

What happens if there's no correlation?

What we want instead is a correlation between 2 binary values.

It seems to be a good deal of correlation to that.

And what we found was that indeed there was a correlation.

Hopefully, that correlation is high indicating you have a reliable instrument.

And the answer is smaller than 0. There's a negative correlation.

People observe there is a correlation but they suggest the correlation is causal in attempting to make you understand the statistic as a call of action.

And then run a correlation analysis on those data and, again, if the correlation is high that demonstrates that we have some reliability.
