This was originally seen as a system that was the pleasure system of the brain.

You are the brain and central nervous system of the ship.

The central nervous system is... your brain and your spinal cord.

Now, this doesn't have a brain, it doesn't have a neural system.

In over 175 societies, people have left their evidence of this powerful brain system.

And when you tamper with one brain system, you're going to tamper with another.

This heat map is going to show you how the brain of the system works.

That brain system the reward system for wanting, for motivation, for craving, for focus becomes more active when you can't get what you want.

The one physical system, the brain, contains an accurate working model of the other, the quasar.

Another way by which microbes can affect the brain is by activation of the immune system.

Another way by which bugs can affect the brain is by activating the gut endocrine system.

It's a neural system that's wired up to reward the brain for doing a grubby clerical job.

Brain magic. What's brain magic all about?

But now we try to understand that in terms of the development of a part of their brain called the limbic system, so I'm going to show you the limbic system in red in the slide behind me, and also on this brain.

All of our conscious states, without exception, are caused by lower level neurobiological processes in the brain, and they are realized in the brain as higher level or system features.

If that single stability system, that brain that flies that aircraft, fails, or if the engine fails, that vehicle crashes.

But when you exercise them, any given muscle adds strength to the whole system, and that applies to your brain, too.

So the limbic system is right deep inside the brain, and it's involved in things like emotion processing and reward processing.

And the third brain system is attachment that sense of calm and security you can feel for a long term partner.

Enhancing Brain Plasticity.

Here's my brain.

Your brain, huh?

Hey, pea brain!

I've shown you that we can use deep brain stimulation to treat the motor system in cases of Parkinson's disease and dystonia.

The pleasure system, as you see, which is the internal opiates, there is a hormone oxytocin, is widely spread throughout the brain.

And he knew from our work that if you go and do something very novel with somebody, you can drive up the dopamine in the brain, and perhaps trigger this brain system for romantic love.

And not only that, the brain is profoundly asymmetric. Drawing of the brain, Yakovlevian torque brain viewed from below
